They let toddlers play safely by the water, and even enjoy themselves, without you having to watch them like a hawk. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>But a 35-year-old who wears swimmies in the pool?<\/b> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">That\u2019s just ridiculous. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">That\u2019s because the point of swimmies is to <\/span><b>protect your toddler<\/b> <i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">while s\/he makes the transition<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to <\/span><b>actually swimming<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. The hope being, of course, that by age 4 or 5 your toddler has total freedom to move safely in the water and have fun doing it!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Just like swimmies aren\u2019t forever, <\/span><b>neither is a total media lockdown<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to protect your kids from viewing unsavory things on TV or the Internet. There\u2019s a place for protection, of course!
