Everyone knows someone who is a big fan of the\u00a0Christmas<\/del>\u00a0movie\u00a0Die Hard<\/em>. In the film, actor Alan Rickman and his cohorts are supposed to be German criminals pulling off a heist (before Bruce Willis swoops in to save the day). But did you know most of the actors who played the criminals\u00a0didn\u2019t actually know how to speak German<\/em>? What they speak in the movie is mostly gibberish. The fake-German gibberish is so bad, the terrorists were simply described as coming from \u201cEurope\u201d in the German release of the film.<\/p>\n

You can\u2019t fake German\u2014in fact,\u00a0you can\u2019t fake\u00a0any<\/em>\u00a0language you don\u2019t know<\/strong>. You might be able to fool others, but you can\u2019t fool a native speaker.<\/p>\n

There are certain things you\u00a0just can\u2019t fake<\/em>\u00a0in life\u2014and true servanthood<\/strong> is one of those things. You can \u201cdo service projects,\u201d but true empathy, compassion, and attention to the needs of others come from the heart.<\/p>\n

Just like learning a new language, becoming a servant is something that takes time and practice\u2014and intentionality.
