Classic Homemade Hummus

This classic Mediterranean dip is a great source of protein, and a delicious way to encourage your kids to eat their veggies. Everything is better with dip! :) With a powerful blender or food processor, this classic homemade hummus only takes a few minutes to whip up.

Ingredients

  • 1 3/4 cups garbanzo beans or a 15 oz can
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1/3 cup tahini
  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin
  • 1/3 cup water or enough to make it the consistency you desire
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice or juice from 1/2 lemon

Instructions

  • Place all items in a high powered blender, like a Blendtec. If using a blendtec, the mixer jar is a great tool.
  • Blend until smooth. Add more water if the mixture is too thick.
  • Serve with your favorite dippers.
