We’re about to launch our new book, Changes: 7 Biblical Lessons to Make Sense of Puberty.
After thousands of families have used our best-selling The Talk: 7 Lessons to Introduce Your Child to Biblical Sexuality, the #1 question we’ve had is, “When’s the next book coming out—you know, the one about puberty.” Admittedly, The Talk was really meant to only be a primer for young kids. We intentionally didn’t dive into the physical and emotional changes of puberty in order to keep in simple.
We’re excited because Changes is a natural follow-up to The Talk. The book is meant for kids 8 to 12 years old (a broad range, we know, because kids all develop at different rates). The book is laid out as a typical family devotional, complete with Scripture reading and explanation, a prayer, and discussion questions. It also includes a healthy dose of biology, complete with simple illustrations kids can understand.
The book will include information about…
- Physical changes boys go through during puberty
- Physical changes girls go through during puberty
- Basic hygiene concerns brought on by puberty
- How hormones are catalysts for change in the body
- A biblical perspective on “coming of age,” putting it in the context of God’s goodness, sovereignty, and wisdom
- A basic introduction to the concept of sexual attraction
We’re putting the finishing touches on it right now, but we want to make sure we haven’t missed anything.
